Stichting Africa Advocacy Foundation
The Netherlands
Africa Advocacy Foundation (AAF) is a migrant-led non-governmental organisation working across Europe to promote health equity, social inclusion, and rights-based access to healthcare for migrant and refugee communities. The organisation focuses on improving health outcomes through advocacy, capacity building, training, and community engagement, with particular emphasis on HIV/AIDS prevention, sexual and reproductive health, and the prevention of violence against women and girls.
AAF works at both grassroots and policy levels, coordinating networks of frontline organisations and strengthening the capacity of migrant health advocates. Its activities include community outreach, HIV awareness and testing, peer support services, and the development of multilingual, culturally sensitive educational resources. Its peer-led approach ensures that lived experience informs both practice and policy engagement, contributing to reduced health inequalities and more inclusive systems.
In the field of youth work, AAF engages young migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees through targeted programmes on health literacy, sexual health, and mental well-being. Through its Mi-Health Europe initiative, the organisation provides digital resources and support tools that help young people navigate healthcare and social services across Europe.
